About RoyalCon

RoyalCon is Montreal’s largest general gaming convention, drawing over 300 participants in 2006, its inaugural year. It is staffed entirely by volunteers, independent of any game companies, so that it can offer a wide variety of games of all genres. Whether you prefer table-top or live-action role playing, board games, miniatures games, or card games, you’ll find something to play at RoyalCon.

The organisation of RoyalCon is overseen by RoyalCon Inc., a non-profit corporation registered in the province of Quebec and described below.

About RoyalCon Inc.

RoyalCon Inc. is a non-profit corporation registered in Quebec. It’s primary mandate is to organise an annual game convention in Montreal that bears the same name. It also has a more general mandate to promote hobby games as a social activity in the city. Its activities are managed by a board of five elected directors. The current board includes:

  • Stéphane Thériault, president
  • Christopher Hammock, treasurer
  • Andrea Rodney, secretary
  • Frédérik Vézina
  • Conan Purves

RoyalCon Inc. is governed by a set of bylaws (coming soon).

Anyone interested in becoming a member of RoyalCon Inc. may do so by contacting one of the members of the board. Membership costs $5.00 per year (and is completely independent of the cost to register for the convention). Members may attend board meetings, may run for positions on the board during annual elections, and may vote in those elections.

As a non-profit corporation, RoyalCon Inc. earns no profits for its members. Any budget surplus in a given year must be reinvested in the activities of the following year. RoyalCon Inc. also has no employees; all its activities are run by volunteers who donate their time out of a love of gaming.
